The Launch of "Amor, Haydée Milanés a duo con Pablo Milanés" Album

This beautiful album, “Amor, Haydée Milanés a dúo con Pablo Milanés”, is a tribute paid by the young crooner to her father’s work and to Cuban songs, since this songwriter is one of the top advocates of this musical genre.

Besides the musical selection culled by Haydée, one of the main appeals of this album is related to the father-daughter duet in all tracks. It is an undeniable display of the great filial and musical empathy between both artists, which had never taken the time to develop a joint project.

This recording material is made up of 11 songs authored by Pablo Milanés between the 1960s and 1980s, including some practically unpublished songs that were recovered by Haydée, as well as such great hits as the first single: “Para vivir”.

“Amor, Haydée Milanés a dúo con Pablo Milanés”takes this author’s work back to its troubadour origins, with folkloric influences and outstanding presence of Cuban songs and son beats.

The instrumentation is quite fresh, accompanied on acoustic and electric guitars, percussions, acoustic bass and drums; so, these songs are brought to our time, but their essence and beauty are respected every step of the way.

The voices of Haydée and Pablo play the leading role in this album and show a lifetime career devoted to music, poetry and love.

On this album, acclaimed artist Julieta Venegas wrote:

“So many of us have to find our own way, and some are lucky enough to find their own voices, to do what they love doing, what they are meant to do, and their voices are fortunately discovered by other people who recognize that unique talent.

Haydée has found her space, her own place in the music realm, where her voice delicately steers any song she calls her own. She has always developed her career at her own pace, by handpicking a repertoire that changes in every stage of her life.

Her voice is sweet, but it also shows decisiveness and wisdom. It expresses something that seems to be young and old, new and way older than her age.

Since she has been close to Pablo Milanés’ songs and she has done it with him, they have both created something new, a common territory, where their voices, the father’s mature voice and the daughter’s young and wise pitch, create those songs again, which are part of the emotional memory of so many of us in Latin America and around the world.

We can only thank them for having found this space together, so we can listen to this gift delivered by wonderful Haydée, singing with her father, the great Pablo Milanés”.
