31:  Women is part of a wider project celebrating key 20th and 21st centuries female cultural protagonists that is composed of an exhibition at Daimler Contemporary in Berlin, of a publication Duchamp and the Women: Friendship, Cooperation, Network, and of a series of lectures.

The exhibition, curated by Renate Wiehager, directly refers to Exhibition by 31 Women and The Women, two groundbreaking presentations respectively held at Peggy Guggenheim's New York gallery Art of This Century in 1943 and 1945. Both shows were initiated and co-curated by Marcel Duchamp, Guggenheim's friend and advisor, and they were the first exhibitions in the US that focused, to such an extent, exclusively on women artists. Based on a selection of 60 works from the Daimler Art Collection, 31: Women brings together early feminist trends and global perspectives of contemporary art in surprising constellations and thematic stagings.
