Regina Silveira's research questions the orthodox and pre-established forms of representation, leading her to explore new possibilities of meanings. Everyday images, common objects and art references are used by the artist to recreate their representational perspective codes, causing strangeness and a direct clash with the spatial context. The artist's work is also recognized for its formal concern, mainly through the large site-specific installations.
The first work of the series "In Absentia" was presented at the 17th São Paulo Biennial, in 1983. It is a research that summarizes the essence of the artist's work, which recreates proportions and shadows of figures, deforming their original properties in the search for the notion of absent objects. For this occasion, Luciana Brito Gallery presents drawings, projects and other works related to the artist's studies for "In Absentia".
