Acosta Danza Performs in Camagüey

Acosta Danza, the dance company directed by renowned Cuban dancer Carlos Acosta, performs for the first time in this city as part of its national tour across the country.

Acosta Danza, founded just two years ago by Acosta, one of the most important ballet dancers of all time in Cuba granted the National Dance Award, will perform in Camaguey 'Fauno' and 'Mermaid', both with choreography by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

It will also include 'Rooster' by Christopher Bruce, with songs by The Rolling Stones recorded in the 1960's and 1970's, and 'El salto de Nijinsky' by Maria Rovira.

The performance in Camaguey will be completed by 'Twelve' a dance-sport work, in which, according to specialized critics, the 12 dancers physically and mentally strive to achieve the impossible.

Acosta Danza previously performed 'Mitos' at the Heredia Theater in Santiago de Cuba, as well as in the eastern cities of Bayamo and Holguin.

Acosta has performed with the Royal Ballet of London, the National Ballet of Cuba, the Ballet of Houston, the American Ballet Theater, the Ballet of the Bolshoi Theater and the Ballet of the Paris Opera.
