Art X 2021: OOA Gallery

For his fourth participation at Art X, OOA Gallery selected artworks by four contemporary African artists - Anjel, Cameroon - Evans Mbugua, Kenya - Abdias Ngateu, Cameroon - Daniel Onguene, Cameroon for their impact, color and creativity:

“I want to give value to the black body, I’m trying to give some kind of attention, some kind of attraction, to the person of color.” Boris Anje

"The flower symbolizes fragility, the ephemeral side of life. I integrated the flowers in my work in order to question our relationship with time." Evans Mbugua

"I go to the dephts to find scenes that are quite comical, quite pathetic, that transcribe in a symbolic way the real life of the people of our world" Abdias Ngateu

"Through my work, I militate for the improvement of living conditions in Africa, for a more fulfilled, more jovial and more colorful society" Daniel Onguene

Resolutely turned towards modernity, while remaining very attached to the African values, these artists take an enlightened and critical look at their society and record its history, while participating in the living memory of their cultures and redefining their link to the world.
