Havana.- Veteran Italian actor Franco Nero is being paid tribute in Cuba by various Cuban cultural institutions, as part of the Week of the Italian Culture.

This film opened the doors to Nero in the film industry, and from then on Nero was frequently requested by filmmakers, both in Italy and abroad.

Nero was also given today the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba's award, named after renowned Cuban filmmaker Tomas Gutierrez Alea.

Varied Italian films will be screened at the hall one of the Infanta movie theater, in Havana, including other classic of Nero's films 'Il giorno della civetta' (1968), directed by Italian screenwriter, actor and writer Damiano Damiani.
