The Cuban cinema present at the Hollywood Academy event

The Cuban cinema was present at the fourth edition of the Archeology of Motion Picture event, organized by the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study.

Held on Saturday, July 13, the event convened numerous critics, scholars, historians and movie buffs in general to address different issues related to the preservation of the oral history of Indian cinema, home movies, the preservation of Trailers and newsreels in the bookstore of Congress, among others.

A panel composed of Josef Lindner of the Academy Film Archive and Luciano Castillo, director of the Cinemateca de Cuba, led by Alejandra Espasande addressed the decisive contribution of this entity to the restoration of several works of Cuban film heritage.

To date it has been materialized in the feature films A Cuban Fight Against Demons and The Survivors, directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, from whom two other of his classics are currently restored: The Death of a Bureaucrat and The Last Dinner, alongside the documentary The art of Tobacco
