Excelencias Group Makes a Splash at FIHAV 2018

The Excelencias Group, by the hand of its President José Carlos de Santiago, who is also ambassador of the Iberian-American Gastronomy Academy and editor-in-chief of the "Excelencias Turísticas del Caribe y las Américas" magazine, held its official presentation Thursday within the framework of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2018), which is place successfully unfolding at the ExpoCuba fairgrounds, on the outskirts of the Cuban capital.

Before a massive turnout of suppliers, customers, representatives of official delegations attending FIHAV, special guests and friends of the Excelencias Group, Mr. José Carlos de Santiago focused a good deal of his speech on highlighting the values of Cuba as a country and of Havana, in particular, due to its condition as Capital of Iberian-American Cocktails.

He said that at a time when the United States has tightened its campaign against travel to Cuba, the Excelencias Group presented the largest Caribbean island with the Excelencias Award as Safe Destination earlier this year in Spain, a recognition that made ripples in the international media .

"Far from exacerbating the fears of traveling to the island, international tourists know that Cuba is and will continue to be a safe destination, a wonderful country with many things to know and discover, a country that as we speak is engaged in the United Nations in a new battle against the U.S. blockade, a country that he has the right to choose a socio-political system of its own. And we, as foreigners, also want to be respected; not for the 21 years the Excelencias Group has been in Cuba, but for the 60 years of struggle of the Cuban people,” said the president of the Excelencias Group in his speech.

The Spain-based Excelencias Group set up shop  in Cuba in July 1997 with the launch of its reference product, the "Excelencias Turísticas del Caribe y las Américas" magazine, in the city of Santiago de Cuba. It currently has 35 printed and digital media that are published and posted in five languages.
