Ko Sin Tung and Samson Young at CFCCA, UK

Edouard Malingue Gallery is pleased to announce Ko Sin Tung’s first exhibition in the UK, at the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art (CFCCA) in Manchester. A group show featuring 7 Hong Kong-based artists, ‘From Ocean to Horizon’ sees Ko Sin Tung exploring the city’s unique connection to the water.

The shifting, fluid relationship between the earth and the sky at the horizon reflects Hong Kong’s status as a city which defies categorization, a city of great contrasts. Coinciding with the 20th Anniversary of the city’s handover to China, Hong Kong is presented as a shifting, dynamic and idiosyncratic place, as fluid as the point where sea meets sky. Focusing on Hong Kong's diverse landscape, of incredible natural beauty and dense metropolis, Ko Sin Tung has explored the tension between natural and man-made beauty and their symbiotic relationship within the city, through a series of new work.

Also on view at CFCCA, as part of Manchester International Festival 2017 (MIF17), is an audio-visual installation from Samson Young, which accompanies his 5-part radio composition ‘One of Two Stories, or Both (Field Bagatelles)’ detailing the mythical tales of 17th century Chinese travellers reaching Europe by foot.

‘From Ocean to Horizon’, and ‘One of Two Stories, or Both (Field Bagatelles)’ are both on view at CFCCA from 7 July – 29 October 2017.
