On September 16, at Palazzo Valentini in Piazza Venezia, artist Nicola Convertino will be awarded for his artistic merits in the field of installations and painting.
Nicola Convertino will receive the International John Paul II Award at Palazzo Valentini, in Piazza Venezia, in recognition of his work as a painter and for his artistic installations.
Convertino has received numerous accolades both as an artist and as a show business manager. Among them are the Venice Golden Lion as “Best Artist of the Year” in 2018, the Golden Colosseum in 2017, and his appointment as a permanent member of the Senate of the Cicerone Academy of Rome. In 2019, he was named Vice President of three Chinese multinational companies of the “Silk Road”, creating a cultural and commercial bridge between China and Italy. He has also been invited as lecturer and master at Hannan University, where he signed a three-year agreement to establish an Art Laboratory within the academic program of this prestigious institution.
Coming from an artistic family, Convertino carries art in his DNA. His mother, Anna Convertino, an artistic model known as “Mamma Rai” —with a statue dedicated to her at the RAI headquarters in Viale Mazzini, created by Emilio Greco— was also a distinguished painter and art expert. His father was a Vatican miniaturist.
An upbringing surrounded by painting and music led Nicola to develop a comprehensive knowledge of art, eventually producing pictorial works comparable to those of the great 20th-century artists his mother met and engaged with artistically: Emilio Greco, Renato Guttuso, Purificato, Remo Brindisi, Trubbiani, Montanarini, Ivo Pannaggi, Manzù, among many others.
This new recognition confirms the artistic value of Nicola Convertino, who constantly navigates between the worlds of art and show business.
