Sculptors and Spaces. Anthony Caro and Eduardo Chillida

Anthony Caro (New Malden near London 1924–2013 London) and Eduardo Chillida (San Sebastián 1924–2002 San Sebastián) number among the most eminent sculptors of the 20th century. Their works are represented in renowned collections and museums worldwide and have long since enriched the Würth Collection. The artists would both have turned 100 in 2024. Museum Würth is taking this as an opportunity to bring their respective oeuvres to life with around 70 selected sculptures and mural works.

With their sculptures, which reflect their own respective individual artistic styles, Caro and Chillida transcended existing boundaries. These two artists are hailed as representatives of sculptural abstraction and significantly contributed to the development of modern sculpture.

The exhibition was created in close cooperation with the families of the two artists, as well as the Anthony Caro Centre and Museo Chillida Leku. Along with the holdings of the Würth Collection, it displays a number of selected works on loan in order to demonstrate the entire spectrum of development in these two sculptors’ works over a period of several decades.
