White Cube Paris. Earthseed

'Earthseed' brings together paintings, sculptures and works on paper by Julie Curtiss (b. 1982 in Paris, lives and works in New York), Loie Hollowell (b. 1983 in Woodland, California, lives and works in New York), and Marguerite Humeau (b.1986 in Cholet, France, lives and works in London, UK) in an exhibition inspired by the ground-breaking science-fiction writer Octavia E. Butler (1947–2006).

The selected works are suggestive of voyages to outer space and inner space, considering the female body as a site of transformation as well as a gateway for the imagination.

Marguerite Humeau searches out the roots of our spiritual sensibility entangled with the origins of human consciousness, and speculates on our capacity for evolution. Julie Curtiss' disquieting surrealist representation of femininity hints at secret rituals and offers the possibility of human hybridity and adaptation. Loie Hollowell's works, taking shape from the female body, celebrate the miracle that is human reproduction in a language of forms that reference earth, seed and cosmos.

Currently on show until 7 October, Tunji Adeniyi-Jones's first solo exhibition in Paris debuts a new series of paintings and works on paper.
