Latin-American Museums Award for Ruta Joven

The Ruta Joven Project of the Department of Cultural Management of the Office of the Historian in Havana was the winner of the fifth edition of the Latin-American Museums Award, an initiative of Ibermuseos Program to support the creation of educational projects related to museums and visible good practices in this sector in Latin America.

In this edition more than 130 projects from 14 countries were presented and evaluated by a Technical Committee made ??up of 10 Latin American specialists. The winning projects, along with the ones recognized with honorable mention, will integrate the Ibero Bank of Good Practices in Educational Action, available at Ibermuseos Portal.

In the category in which Ruta Joven competed were awarded ten projects from Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Spain, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Chile and Cuba. In the case of Cuba, this year, the only one that received this distinction was the project of the Office of the Historian.

This is the second time that one of the projects of the Cultural Management of the Office of the Historian in Havana receives this distinction, because in 2010 Rutas y Andares para Descubrir en Familia (Routes and Walks to Discover Family) was gratified with the third recognition of this award.

Ruta Joven, which aims to bring this population to cultural proposals of the Historical Center of Old Havana, is a derivative of the successful Rutas y Andares (Routes and Walks) program. Since 2011, there have been six editions: Ruta por el arte y la experimentación contemporánea  in Factoria Habana (April 2011); 2026, el patrimonio de hoy in Vitrina de Valonia (July-August 2011); La arquitectura y el diseño en nuestra ciudad futura, in the House of Green Gables (Nov 2011.) Ruta joven por la historieta in Vitrina de Valonia (September 2012) Ruta joven por los oficios at Workshop School Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos (December 2012), and path  Fotografía y ciudad on the Plaza old (May 2014).
