Two Young Spaniards at the Fernando Pradilla Gallery

The Reprotipográfica and From a tree-house  exhibits by AlejandroBombin (Madrid, 1985) and Diego Vallejo (Salamanca, 1986) will remain open thru Sept. 9.

Both exhibitions have counted on the contribution of Victor Zarza, commissioner and art critic with ABC Cultural and head of the Painting Division at the School of Fine Arts of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. “There are two common circumstances in both artists,” Zarza explains. “In terms of their formation, both Alejandro and Diego studies at the School of Fine Arts of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the two of them are engaged in the pictorial sensitivity that came along with the model offered by today’s audiovisual means.”

This is Bombin’s second individual exposition and this time around he has zeroed in on his views on the endless possibilities of image perception, its manipulation, regrouping and re-composition. For Diego Vallejo, this is his premiere individual exhibit in which landscapes rather than subjects are the main characters. In the From a tree-house catalog, Ana Pol Colmenares writes: “Based on the idea of that house sitting on the treetop, quite a dream for every child, there’s a perfect setting for both fables and watching. Through this house, Diego comes up with a series of paintings that just launch an innocent and inquiring look. There are houses, shelters, dregs of nature in which it seems there’s always something about to happen.”
