Within the framework of the recently-inaugurated exhibition by Manuel Lopez Oliva at the National Museum of Fine Arts, a discussion panel entitled “MIMESIS and Cuban Art” will open on March 15 at 2:00pm at the audiovisual hall of the Cuban Art Building. The panel will feature special interventions by a renowned group of critics, curators and pundits.

Hortensia Montero (the Mimesis curator), will emcee the panel made up of Nelson Herrera Ysla, Jorge Bermudez, Carina Pino Santos, Kirenia Rodriguez Puerto, Toni Piñera, Virginia Alberdi and Carlos Escala, who will voice their viewpoints on Lopez Oliva’s work and the role this exhibit plays in the realm of Cuba’s contemporary art.

During the panel, the exhibition catalog will be on sale in Cuban pesos (regular currency) and the latest issue of the Arte por Excelencias magazine –containing an article on the artist- will be doled out. In addition, a small-scale original by Lopez Olica will be raffled.

This analytical chat has been called by the Museum, the National Fine Arts Council and the Arte Cubano publishing house. Attendance will be free.
