Jorge Luis Santana: NACION SONORA

Jorge Luis Santana’s solo show, made up of six artworks, is going to be inaugurated on Thursday October 11 at 5:00 pm at Salle Zéro –audiovisual space at the French Alliance of Cuba dedicated to French culture, French-speaking world and Cuban video-creation.

The exhibition is titled by Nacion Sonora piece, which was previously showcased at the Videoart Festival of Camagüey, Cuba, and commented on by Magaly Espinosa: “daily life is blended with the politic one, through the national news, street noises, neighborhood conversations (…) we are shown the movement of an equalizer that rules the events, its controls tell us who can be better listened and when”.

Likewise, Magaly said, in the pieces exhibited there is “a mix of styles from fine arts and the movies, which turn artists into a sort of visual producers that suggest to go beyond those limits, showing that plurality and pollution are virtues of contemporary art that provide great possibilities for the process of artistic construction. Santana connects the surreal with the documental, the world of communication with the installation one, daily life and politics, knowing that that life doesn’t establish distinctions”.

Santana was invited to the latest edition of the Biennial of Havana with his Perspectiva(2012) project, located at the Miramar Trade Center.
