Donna Conlon & Jonathan Harker’s "Toca jugar"at Espacio Mínimo Gallery

“Toca jugar”is the title of the first show exhibited at Espacio Mínimo Galleryby the couple of artists DONNA CONLON & JONATHAN HARKER, which puts together four of their latest video works –Tapitapultas, Drinking Song, Efecto dominóandZincfonía tropical–, where they roll out incisive and poetic social critics with great doses of irony and ludic sense.

DONNA CONLON (Atlanta, 1966) & JONATHAN HARKER (Quito, 1975), live and work in Panama City. Conlon’s work is a socio-archaeological search around her: she takes and gathers together images and objects related to the daily life, and she uses them to reveal human idiosyncrasies and contradictions of our contemporary lifestyle. Harker uses irony and hyperbole to subvert the language and traditional concepts of narrations. His work shows threads and gaps that reveal a nature made up of personal and collective identities and realities.

Conlon and Harker started to work together back in 2006. Their videos and installations utilize the characteristics inherent in wasted objects to tackle the creation of identities, consumerism, accumulation of residues and climate. They have exhibited their works in multiple solo shows. Their collaborations have also been included in collective shows and prestigious collections.

The show is going to be open at Espacio Mínimo Gallerythrough July 25, 2014.
