"Open Times", Funds of Álava’s Artium Collection

Fuenlabrada’s CEART is going to house throughout May, June3 and July the exhibition "Open Times (Tiempos Abiertos)" funds of Álava’s ARTIUM collection. This show, coproduced with Salamanca’sDA2, represents an approach from art to this problematical context, in order to reflect and create meanings beyond techniques, means and appearances. The group of works is chronologically framed within the past 15 years, since the birth of Artium to date. It proposes an unprejudiced view of a period that has taken us from the show to the crisis. Arthas always been characterized by the need to condense and symbolically represent social and historical processes and most of our artists have taken in the splitting process of that well-to-do reality, by putting on the map elements that were excluded or repressed and have brought about that present crisis context.

Enrique Martínez Goikoetxea, Curator of Álava’s Artium Collection, tries to deliver a reflection of the tensions, chaos and desires that were born out of a euphoria and crisis context.
