German Video Art arrives with Movimientos Quietos (Freeze Movements) in Caracas

The exhibition of the German Marcel Odenbach, considered a pioneer of video art in his country currently generates expectation among the Venezuelans lovers of plastic, just a few hours before the opening.

With the title Movimientos Quietos (Movements Freeze), the Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas opens the exhibition to the public tomorrow, reports the Ministry of Culture.

According to the programming coordinator of Goethe Institute Mariella Roso, Odenbach uses video art as a means to look critically at the society.

The exhibition includes sound recordings, tape images, photographs and works on paper made ??over the past three decades, she said.

Organized by the Goethe Institute and the Institut für Auslandsbeziehugen, the itinerant exhibition Movimientos Quietos (Movements Freeze) began its journey in Uruguay and after Venezuela will continue the tour in Colombia.

After the opening, the German curator Vanessa Joan Müller will give a lecture on Odenbach's work and its importance in the international scene, for its sharp visual language.

Marcel Odenbach (1953) is one of the most famous exponents of German video art, along with his countrymen Ulrike Rosenbach and Klaus vom Bruch. In addition to his incursions in sculpture and photography, he makes performances to delve into the identity of his native roots.
