Art for Excellencies

By José Ramírez Pantoja

Undoubtedly the art can be represented in dissimilar shapes, wherever it is genuine, it will be clapped regardless the envelope. I think so much enjoyment can provoke  a symphony concert, to see the sublime performance of a dancer or an actor, to read a novel by García Márquez, or to get in our hands on the latest number of the magazine Art For Excellencies, released this Sunday in one of the forums of the American Congress of Thought.

A monograph number (20) specially dedicated to Cuba arrived here from the hand of the journalist and cultural promoter Alexis Triana Hernandez, author of three works which appear in this publication of the Madrid Excellencies group and to the delight of the Holguin people have involved several countrymen different ways in this special edition.

A work of Triana about the most universal Mayarí "Frank Fernandez: The piano as a man," another of his own authorship dedicated to the unforgettable Master Humberto Solas and the Low Budget Festival of Gibara "Solas Solas, you will never leave Gibara." the first chapter of the book "the True Story of Tropicana" by Havana-Holguin professor Manuel Redondo, the words written for the Agenda of Notes Lescay, by the renowned poet, narrator and editor Lourdes Gonzalez, the always stunning photographs of photojournalist Juan Pablo Carreras and last but not least, the exquisite art direction of the young designer Liubert Gonzalez Ricardo from Holguin.

The irreverent and sheer beauty of the piece "Somos" by the Master Alberto Lescay, welcomes the reader on the cover of the magazine, making a palette that accentuates the simplicity and largely conducted by the visual richness with excellent images and well done advertisements for events and cultural products that the reader will discover on every page, others printed with excellent quality, perhaps all in tune and making honors the name of this publication.

The number also includes texts devoted to Marti Theater in Havana, to the physical death of writer friend of Cuba and icon of Cuban readers, Gabriel García Márquez and mother company Danza Contemporanea de Cuba. The prologue of Agenda Notes also appears, written by Marina L. Jacobo Garcia of Las Tunas.

An approach to the Master Nicholas Door, a review of the Cuban sewing, an article about jazz made by artists of the island, aspects of the work of the PMM project with Cuban musicians in the US city of Miami, a look at art circus and details of 2014Wsis Project Prize given to / Cubarte / portal.

The presentation of  Art for Excellencies flattered to the audience became truly special by the participation of the edition master Elia Rosa, widow of beloved teacher "Manolo Redondo" Tropicana auditor, someone greatly missed in the Cuban of film and television field and Holguin branch of the Faculty of Communication of the ISA.

Elia recalled anecdotes of my unforgettable production teacher and opponent of my thesis discussion at the university. With singular emotion and sadness of the recent farewell to her companion, the dedicated publisher ICAIC told stories of the revolutionary cashier in Tropicana...  her Manolo, among others that can be read in the book that promotes the magazine and forthcoming in Ediciones Holguín.

Marina Lourdes "Chachi" Jacobo García, explained aspects of her unpublished text Las luces: Lescay about the life and work of this great figure of the Cuban plastic, and Liubert with apparent simplicity made public the challenge to him as the creator to assume the graphic design of the magazine, and above all that brings this new experience in his work, as a designer of image of important culture campaigns. With humility this good professional stresses that he hopes his work will keep up to the magazine.

When I was writing these lines, someone said "I like the view this magazine has, it makes you read it right away" and he is right and to close this brief review I will take a piece of the text of the editor and CEO magazine.

"... Like never before we believe in the importance of art and culture, and increasingly protagonist and indispensable for the brotherhood between the peoples of the region, and how they can regenerate our societies from lifting the spirit and quality of life ".
