CinemaFest promotes cultural and tourist development from the cinema and the arts

After 10 days of intense artistic, cultural and tourism work, was closed in the Mexican city of San Luis Potosi, the first edition of CinemaFest. The film meeting was possible thanks to the Foundation 1896 BC, in collaboration with sponsors and support from City Hall.

 

A total of 1700 spectators attended the closure of the event, including famous artists, directors and national and international producers; managers, foundations, corporations and special guests.

 

The audience enjoyed a concert combining the talents of the Symphony Orchestra of San Luis Potosi, directed by José Miramontos Zapata, and jazz and blues singer Ola Onabule from British-Nigerian origin. They delighted for over an hour and were acclaimed in the Alameda Cinematheque Theater of San Luis Potosi.

 

During the festival more than 500 film productions from Europe, Asia and America were presented. The winning films were: "I am Sami" by the director Kae Bahar from Kurdistan, in the Short Film category.

 

"Los días no vividos" by Spanish director Alfonso Cortés Cavanillas in the segment of Feature, and fostering the creation of the state was awarded "El diablo, la danza y el tambor" by Potosi directors Omar Flores and Sabdyel Almazan, who seek that local and national industry has largest showcases for reaching the public.

 

Since the opening on November 14th , many artists and sponsors as actors Jaime Camil, Paola Núñez, Iliana Fox and director Roberto Girault, among others were attracted.

 


The CinemaFest was characterized by using the outdoor space and film adaptations for people with disabilities such as blind and deaf could enjoy "Cinema for everyone".

 

From November 14th through 23rd were developed outdoors in the three major public squares in the downtown area of San Luis Potosi, various activities called for more than 40 000 people.

 

Directors, managers and producers also attended, who through workshops, lectures and film presentations approached more than 2000 people.

 

With more venues and spaces, in 2015 the second edition of CinemaFest will take place, fostering social, cultural, educational and tourism development from the cinema and the arts that feed it.
