La Sala Madrid-Alcala presented on 31 February, in the programming of the 2015 ARCO fair, the exhibition entitled The uncertain wall of one of the leading artists of the current Spanish sculpture: Pello Irazu. The Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Culture of the regional government will present the project specifically designed for this room, which will run from February 11 to April 19, 2015.
To Pello Irazu sculpture has an extremely open character and also to use multiple formats, materials and devices, also uses expressions deemed graphs, such as drawing or painting wall. All this will be reflected in this exhibition.
In The uncertain wall display for the first time, a set of ten works by the artist, dated between 1991 and 2004. In addition to murals, some of these facilities include other objects (sculptures, architectural and graphs, etc.) and how they present all is in itself a work over exposure, indeed the most relevant work.
Irazu pello labyrinthine defined spatial configuration with walls which, beyond being works brackets constitute a whole expressive which, together with the peculiar characteristics of this showroom will allow different approaches and spatial experiences. Visitors can experience the place as a space where content and container; architecture, sculpture and painting, listed in a particular game that will make you think about the usual way to feel the space and form.
The works that make up the wall are uncertain: Natural History (1991), Summer Kisses (1992), A la maison (1995), The Corner (1995), Meeting Point (1997), The Wound (1998), 330 (1998) , Life Forms 2 (2001), Per la Rosa (2002) and Series B (Ercilla) (2004). Almost all of them have been presented in previous solo exhibitions of the author, except for Natural History, which will show for the first time in Room Madrid-Alcala 31 (C / Alcalá, 31, Madrid).
Pello Irazu
He was born in Andoain (Gipuzkoa) in 1963. There he resided until, in 1981 moved to Bilbao to study Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country, where he graduated in the specialty of Sculpture. Soon, his work began to get recognition. In 1984 he won the Prize for Sculpture at the Bienal de Vitoria, in 1986 the Prize of Young Art Exhibition in Madrid in 1987 Sculpture Prize of Biscay and in 1988 the IV International Triennial of Drawing of Nuremberg and prize Icaro to highlight young Spanish artist.
In 1990 he was selected to participate in the Aperto of the Venice Biennale and also received the prestigious Fulbright Hispanic Joint Committee American to develop their work in New York, where he lived until 1998. From that year lives and works in Bilbao. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His work is represented in many museums and collections: Artium. Basque Centre-Museum of Contemporary Art, Vitoria; Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao; Bilbao Fine Arts Museum; MACBA, Barcelona; MNCARS, Centro de Arte Reina Sofía National Museum, Madrid; Collection Bank of Spain, Madrid; Marugame Museum - Hirai Spanish Contemporary Art, Japan and Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig, Vienna, among others.
