Los hijos de Matías Pérez arts exhibit at Casa del Alba Cultural

By: Adalys Pérez

Los hijos de Matías Pérez art exhibition, by Alejandro Lescay Hierrezuelo, whose inauguration was one of the most important artworks in the recently finished 2nd edition of Habanarte Festival, is opened to the public at Casa del Alba Cultural center.

Symbolized in our context in the legendary figure of that unfortunate pioneer of Aeronautics, the search of new ideas and horizons assumed by the human being since a long time is the conceptual basis of this series started by the artist in 2012, and which is now shown for the first time independently.

Divers, cosmonauts, unknown worlds and others being explored, bear witness the author’s calling about the passion that motivated Matías Pérez, which still provokes his descendants.

Ten recently large-scale works, using the acrylic on canvas technique with a prevailing gray palette, make up this exhibit where the artist mixes the abstract and the figurative subject once more, this latter, primarily, through the presence of graphic elements.

Only one of these have been previously shown in exhibitions made along with the artist’s father, maestro Alberto Lescay, as part of the Somos Project, also made with his musician brothers Albertico and Arnaldo to promote the effectiveness of art as media, through the fusion of some of its expressions.

With a smaller format and having Albertico Lezcay and his jazz group Formas as guests, the opening of this art exhibit offers a concert where some artworks will be projected on the big screens.
