Jazz Plaza 2015 International Festival

This year we will approach the fusion of genres in Jazz with emphasis in the autochthonous roots of the African, Hispano- American and Caribbean countries to create the most contemporary musical expressions but keeping classical and standards.

We have the purpose to celebrate a beautiful jazz party with the presence of Cuban famous pianist Chucho Valdés and relevant Cuban and foreign musicians.

We have also invited THE PRESERVATION HALL JAZZ BAND from the United States, which has been doing a wonderful work with Maestro Hernán López-Nussa for the festival’s opening at Mella theatre. Different musical groups from the United States, Argentina, Spain and our most relevant Jazz players will play at this theatre and will present the genres influences and the most authentic Latin Jazz. There will be a special presentation from legendary American musician Billy Gibbons, guitarist of ZZ Top.

The closing gala of the event will be in charge of the Organizing Committee’s President of Honor, Chucho Valdés and his guests.

The Cultural Arts Center in Plaza municipality and the Tito Junco Theatre Room will be also venues of the Festival from December 16 to 20. There will be one night devoted to Electroacoustic music and Jazz with very modern shows performed by national and foreign groups. In general, the Festival will offer an international program of a very high level. 

The Pabellón Cuba will be open again with the FERIAJAZZ Fair from December 16 to 20, with beautiful arts shows by Nelson Domínguez and other important Cuban and foreign artists. The fair will also present jam sessions performed by our young musicians and concerts by Cuban and foreign bands. FERIAJAZZ will also offered place master classes and colloquiums with the participation of important international Jazz artists
