Lizt Alfonso's Company to Perform at the Latin Grammy

Cuban Lizt Alfonso''s Company will become in the first Cuban dance group to perform in the Latin Grammy awards next Thursday, was announced today in a press release.

 

According to Alfonso, her company was recently invited to participate in the ceremony at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will share the stage with popular Latin American artists.

 

'I think we are the first Cuban dance company to perform in this award ceremony', she said.

 

Currently, Lizt Alfonso Danza Cuba presents the show Cuba Vibra! for an entire season at the New Victory Theatre, located in the emblematic 42nd Street and Broadway, in the heart of Manhattan.

 

The versatility, virtuosity and grace of the company dancers have conquered the public in this eighth US tour, where the company has presented the fusion style that distinguishes it.

 

Several Cubans were nominated to the awards in this 16th edition of the Grammy.

 

In the list of nominees are included the Septeto Santiaguero and Jose Alberto "El Canario' with their 'Tribute to Los Compadres. No quiero llanto'. Also is included Alain Perez with El alma del son - Tribute to Matamoros.

 

The pianist, composer and jazzman Ivan 'Melon' Lewis is nominated in the categories of Best Latin Jazz Album and Best New Artist.

 

Silvio Rodríguez and Calle 13 are competing with 'Ojos color Sol' in the category of Best Music Video - Short Form.

 

Roberto Carlos will be honored by the Latin Recording Academy this year, and named him Person of the Year 2015.

 

Also will present the award for musical excellence for their remarkable artistic contributions to the Cuban Pablo Milanes, the Spanish Ana Belen and Victor Manuel, the Dominican Angela Carrasco, the Brazilian Djavan, the Argentine Gato Barbieri, and the Puerto Ricans of El Gran Combo.
