Galleria Continua continues celebrating its 25th anniversary with exhibitions in Paris and now in Habana. In this case the Centro Wifredo Lam will be hosting a group exhibition of 15 international artists that are part of the gallery program.
Garaicoa will be participating in this exhibition with the piece Deleuze & Guattari Fixing the Rhizome, 2008. An installation of hundreds of hammers growing and expanding like a climbing plant over the walls of the Wifredo Lam Center. This organism that seems like its alive, forms a viral system of wood and steel over the concrete walls. A formal multiplicity careless of a starting point, a constructive complexity that alludes the philosophical concept raised by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari as an epistemology model. Carlos Garaicoa continues to postulate the image and its political power as a metaphor of the subversive capacity of the art. These tools support a precarious balance on architecture, tensing ideas like order, centrality or power, establishing a suggestive parallelism with social structure.
