Cuban Film Esteban Competes in Festival of Huelva

HAVANA, Cuba.- The film Esteban, first work of Cuban director Jonal Cosculluela, was selected to participate in the Iberian-American Film Festival of Huelva, to be held on November 11-20 in Spain.

 

Produced by the Cuban Music Institute, the Colibrí record label, RTV Comercial, the Spanish company Mediapro and the Hermanos Saiz Association, the movie tells the story of a nine year-old boy (played by Reynaldo Guanche), that discovers his musical talent and in spite of difficulties he struggles for what he wants.

 

Yuliet Cruz, Manuel Porto, Raul Pomares and Corina Mestre, among other actors and actresses, are part of the cast.

 

With a script by Amilcar Salatti and music by Cuban pianist Chucho Valdes, it's a film about dreams and perseverance.

 

Participating materials will compete in four categories: Feature Films, Shorts, Andalusian Talent and New Directors, plus the Ciudad Huelva Prize, which in this opportunity will be for Cuban filmmaker Jorge Perugorria, as an acknowledgement to his career and versatility.
