IBEA: Ibero-American Association for the Spread of Culture and Tourism

For more than a year, boldface names in the tourism industry, culture, gastronomy and heritage have created IBEA, the Ibero-American Association for the Spread of Culture and Tourism

The Association's board of directors is made up of Rafael Ansón Oliart as Honorary President, Charo Trabado as President, and Jose Carlos de Santiago as Vice President.

All of them are professionals with an extensive background and recognition in their respective disciplines, with Mr. Ansón Oliart contributing his knowledge in the management of gastronomic and heritage projects, Ms. Trabado her experience in the organization of international B2B fairs and events, and Mr. de Santiago his expertise in Ibero-American communication.

Year after year, many professionals in the fields of culture, art, gastronomy and tourism fail to see their projects come to fruition due to lack of resources or support. Thus, initiatives that aim to restore, care for, or bring to light the Ibero-American heritage are abandoned or unfortunately lose their projection.

The restoration, tourism and culture sectors, despite this neglect, continue to work to give the best of themselves. Since March 2020, when the pandemic of HIV/AIDS-19 disrupted the lives and work of everyone in the world, they have all contributed time and effort to their communities.

The best chefs from each country made themselves available to anyone who needed their help in the kitchen. Museums and galleries brought art to confined households through free visits to their collections. Destinations and tour operators collaborated in route plans for the reopening. Even so, the lack of resources and support for these sectors is expected to be more severe than ever.

At IBEA we are reluctant to think that culture, art, gastronomy and tourism will once again be relegated to the background in budgets, promotion plans and development. The main purpose of the Association is to promote and enhance the development and international dissemination of the culture, heritage and gastronomy of Ibero-America, as well as to facilitate the achievement of support and the development of synergies.

This work of promotion and encouragement will focus on the globalization of the attractions of each country, promoting tourism, gastronomy and heritage through the new mobility and governed by the principles of ecology, digitization and equity.

To this end, IBEA proposes to facilitate the creation of synergies between all actors, both public and private, involved in Ibero-American heritage, gastronomy, art, culture and tourism, to develop twinning links between the different nations and peoples of Ibero-America and to support projects for the preservation of Ibero-American cultural and gastronomic heritage.

Likewise, to advise countries and destinations that wish to declare, enhance and disseminate their heritage, cultural and tourism values by promoting best practices.
