Taller Boricua: A Political Printshop in New York

We are delighted to celebrate our physical reopening on Saturday, September 12 with Taller Boricua: A Political Print Shop in New York, the first monograph exhibition in three decades about the East Harlem-based Nuyorican collective workshop and alternative space. Curated by Rodrigo Moura, Chief Curator of El Museo, the exhibition, comprised of more than 200 works and ephemera, draws inspiration from Taller Boricua's role as a focal point for the affirmation of identity as it relates to artistic production in the diaspora, as well as its connections with non-Western, African and Taíno sources. Originally postponed due to the temporary closure, the exhibition will now be on view as of September 12, 2020 through January 17, 2021.

Our physical reopening is coupled with NEW internal measures and visitor guidelines that will be enforced to ensure the health and safety of our visitors and staff. See below.

*NEW* Hours and Admissions

The Museum's new hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 5pm, until further notice. All visitors and members must book timed tickets (online ticketing coming soon!) in advance. Due to significantly reduced capacity, same-day tickets may be limited and will be issued based on availability. Admission remains Pay-What-You-Wish.

*NEW* Visitor Guidelines

El Museo has developed comprehensive safety procedures for its staff and visitors, following guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), New York State, and New York City. Measures include limiting the number of visitors to 25 percent of the Museum's maximum capacity and enhancing cleaning procedures, in addition to requiring visitors and staff to wear face coverings at all times. All who enter the building will be asked to practice physical distancing by maintaining at least six feet from others, and hand washing and hand sanitizing will be encouraged throughout the Museum. A complete list of guidelines and recommendations is available on El Museo's website.

The reopening of Las Galerias complements the Museum's on-going online initiative, El Museo en tu Casa, offering visitors ways to connect us from the comfort of their homes. We invite you to stay connected with El Museo through YouTube channel; social media platforms (InstagramFacebook, and Twitter); as well as our website.
