The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation has appointed a new director and curator: Venezuelan Jesus Fuenmayor, who is a member of its Advisory Committee since 2009. Fuenmayor has organized exhibitions for Periferico Caracas, the Alejandro Otero Museum, also in Caracas, among others. He was the co-curator to Jump Cuts. Venezuelan Contemporary Art, traveling exhibition, at Americas Society, New York (2005) and CIFO Art Space, Miami (2007); as well as Demonstration Room / Ideal House, showcased at art institutions in Caracas, New York, Antwerp and Chicago between 2001 and 2002.

On the other hand, CIFO Art Space will be displaying a collective exhibition of award-wining works. The list includes Eduardo Abaroa (Mexico), Glexis Novoa (Cuba) and Marta Maria Perez Bravo (Cuba), as well as Francisca Aninat (Chile), Julieta Aranda (Mexico), Tamar Guimarâes (Brazil), Daniela Ortiz de Zevallos (Peru) and Marisa Rubio (Argentina). Through the years, CIFO has gained momentum as one of the most important sponsors of Latin American art in the United States, as it has carried out a program targeting emerging contemporary artists, which provides a platform to showcase projects for local and international viewers in Miami. Each year, the scholarships are granted to up to eight emerging artists and up to three “mid-career artists”, nominated by the Advisory Committee. Up-to-date, these programs have granted over $500.000 in terms of scholarships.

From February 15 to 19, Stand: 8H-04 in ARCOmadrid, the Foundation will give viewers the opportunity of registering and interacting with the new characteristics of www.cifo.org. It will also be a propitious opportunity to announce the winners of the first Curatorial Achievement Award, created to pay tribute to its Honorary Advisory Committee.

We’ll keep you posted on the events related to the tenth anniversary of CIFO.
