First major exhibition on the path of Hernán Cortés in Mexico

The Madrid hosts the first major exhibition on the path of Hernán Cortés in Mexico. From December 3rd until May 3, 2015, 'Itinerary Hernán Cortés' will show the story of the historical events that occurred from 1519, when the arrival of Extremadura hidalgo Mexican territory. In Extremadura the Aztec empire

 

 "Itinerary of Hernán Cortés" is curated by the Perpetual Antique of the Real Academia de la Historia, Martin Almagro-Gorbea and academic of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Cristina Mats. The exhibition is divided into seven areas that run from the origins of the frontier conqueror to the splendor of the Aztec empire, to other historical aspects as the reconstruction of Mexico-Tenochtitlan or the Viceroyalty of New Spain.

 

Among the pieces that may be seen include the "Head eagle warrior" from the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico, the "Sword call Hernán Cortés" National Heritage, "The cap" of the Real Academia de la Historia. It also has important documents such as the "Codex Osuna" loan from the National Library or the "Testament of Hernán Cortés" Provincial Historical Archive of Seville and some paintings like "The Equestrian Portrait of Viceroy Bernardo de Galvez" National Museum of History Castillo de Chapultepec.

 

The conquest of Mexico was one of the most important events of the early modern period. The Crown of Castile was booming after the end of the reconquest of the Iberian Peninsula and start the discovery of America. Hernan Cortes, son of Extremadura gentlemen, was apparently one of the thousands of young people who had decided to make his fortune in the New World.

 

 The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday and Monday closed to the public. The ticket price is 7 euros overall, 3.5 reduced and free for children under 6 years old, unemployed and people with disabilities. There will also be free children's workshops for children between 3 and 12 years, in which they can build a model of Aztec pyramid, a feather headdress as the Emperor Moctezuma or complete a travel diary with questions about history, geography or navigation.

 

The Hernán Cortés is the twelfth major exhibition passing through Canal Art, the exhibition hall of Canal de Isabel II Management, next to the Plaza de Castilla in Madrid. Precisely, now ten years since opening to the public with the exhibition "Warriors of Xi'an" and since then has received nearly 3 million visitors.
